BEFORE

Although I always shoot with accurate settings to make sure my images are correct in camera, there's always little tweaks to be made. With newborn babies especially, their skin often has dry patches, red blemishes and the occasional scratch.

My cosy studio is perfect for that homely feel, easy to keep warm, and comfortable so as not to overwhelm my little visitors, but sometimes that means my workspace isn't as big visually as I'd like!

The edge of backdrops/backgrounds can be seen, plus the edge of my lighting. But I know I can fix these little issues and focus on baby in the moment, and capture timeless images.

AFTER

The tiny little red patches, so common to newborn skin, and little flakes of dry skin have been removed, but I like to leave the skin as natural as possible with pores and milk spots that are just so fresh and newborn unique!

I've extended the fabric and fur so it no longer distracts the eye from baby, and I've brightened babies skin just a touch to make him stand out more from the background.

I'll also sharpen the eyes (if they are awake!) just to optimise the image for printing, but I'll never alter the colour of the eyes as the reality is what we want!

It's a time consuming process- every image is hand edited by eye by me, so I can ensure consistency throughout my work and make sure your images are personal to you!
