A worry you simply don't need to think about.
Would you believe me if I told you this little girl was nervous to even hold babies hand when we began this session? And now look at her!
I have new big sisters and brothers in the studio all the time. Different ages and different levels of interest. They take different amounts of time to warm up. Some are so affectionate you think baby might pop! Others a little more cautious.
I really wanted to get a shot of her holding him in a chair- but she really wasn't keen to begin. So what do you do? Something else! Build their confidence. Create trust between you.
I started with showing her how I wanted her to lie on the cushions, and practiced with a teddy where baby will be. Shot 1 nailed.
Then I went for a back lit shot. She wasn't keen on touching baby still....so I have a little game and trick I use....and hey presto...shot two nailed!
She then had a little hydration break (!) whilst I focused on baby for a while.
And then, just as we were finishing I chanced my arm and asked if she wanted to sit in the big chair- and she did!
Mummy is just out of shot within arms reach of baby, just in case!
